I actually read this as "Leghair, not only helps to aerate the water column, it also promotes gentle flow through the gravel."
    sounds so wrong.......

Might i point out, UGF plates are good stuff. To act as support when doing scapes... Support rocks, slope, zip tie driftwood to it....

Maybe it does not apply to Leghair only, it's also the same for others. Until you try then you know..

That's when you have spare UGF plates.. I believe eggcrates should be cheaper..

some time later, in a forum far far away.....

    someone will say...

" there is this moderator of a forum that mentioned that leghair can help aerate the water column and promotes circulation"

    HAHAHA.

after thinking. I think easier for me just to get a huge HOB filter n cover it with a stainless steel strainer.

Please do not consider UGF. I had to tear down and rebuilt my tank because of that, too much fluctuating parameter problems. I'm happy with my HOF system now, stabilised parameters.

Currently I'm using HOF or canister with the inlet covered with DIY stainless steel strainer. Has been working well and I do not see shrimplets in my filter when I wash them.. Which is a good thing, and that the strainer is working well..

the current commercially available one might not be small enough to prevent the shrimplets from getting suck in.

The gUSH stainless steel strainers are small enough not to let shrimplets through. Any smaller, you will need to DIY with a finer mesh.

Otherwise you can use a sponge inlet, those with holes so fine that they actually clog up before your HOF media does.. I used them before for. Breeding Cherries and always see shrimplets crawling around the sponge inlets unharmed.

I got a 10mm gush stainless steel shrimp guard, 1-2mm shrimplets all safe in the tank, didn't get suck into the HOF...
