    Hi All,

Any light fixture that is good for the stated tank size to recommend?

I am planning to hang it on top of my tank. Scape in mind: Iwagami and with H.C type and plants that are suitable for the scape.

    Thank you.

2 lights of t5Ho fixtures is good enough, 4 lights better spread but slightly tough to maintain

You would want to consider 4 tube T5HO, or LED lightsets with bulbs of 3W or more to be able to penetrate the depth of your tank

    Thank you milk_vanilla and qngwn.

I was surfing online and saw the ADA Grand Solar 1 NAG-150W Green. It is for the tank measurement that i stated and good review from people using ADA products.

Question: is it worth saving money to get it?

Ada things are good and very pleasing to look at. But depending on your requirements, same specs can be achieve at a lower cost. If money is not a issue, i think ADA will not go wrong.

If you don't mind paying for that amount, it will be great to get it. Metal halides are able to penetrant great depths as the expense of high power consumption and heating up the water. You will most probably need a chiller to keep the water cold if you're using metal halides.

    Thank you bennyc and qngwn.

Thus the disadvantage point of saving up for the ADA Grand Solar is it uses high power consumption and will raise the water temperature.

And ADA electronics are running on 110v, so you should convert it to 230v.

Re: Light fixtures for 90x45x45cm tank

I always recommend LEDs especially in the case of ensuring the temperature of the water not getting too high. I have the 120W Maxspect LED (which I run out of superlatives to describe how good it is) and a Green Element 3W LED for a smaller tank.
My 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 ft tank is consistently at 24 - 25degrees in the current fine weather. 22 - 23degrees at night. Superb for any plant. Even in the hot weather it does not go above 27 degrees (with a fan of course). You can seriously consider Maxspect 160W 8k LED if you have money for ADA. The auto on-off and dimming function is really good and at 60-70% the cost of ADA MH.

I got my Maxspect from Fishy Business. Drop by and look at their plants too - fantastic collection. Or if you want to pay less, Green Element 3W LEDs are also fine ones and you can look at East Ocean for that.

    That said - Happy planting

P.S. My motto now after learning from mistakes is - Spend a little more now so that you will spend less later correcting your mistakes hahah.

Oh yes, one thing about he Maxspect though, is that it will be much better if you can get the stainless steel bars to hang them higher up or fix them directly on your ceiling. The additional height ensures better coverage of the tank.

Thank you Phillipians! Will look at Maxspect. Thus one advantage is that it wont heat up the water that much, right?

Another question: If i stick to the saving up for the ADA Grand Solar thus i should save up for a chiller too?

Re: Light fixtures for 90x45x45cm tank

Leds in general produce less heat compare to t5 tubes.

Chiller although prefer is not a must. Many hobbists achieve reasonable success with just fan cool or normal room temperature tanks. Chilled tanks allows high degree of carbon dioxide soulability. From my personal experience, cooler tanks have less algae problems but it is not fool proof method to prevent algae. Of course, another obvious need of chiller is some plants need a certain temperature to survive and flourish but there aint a lot like this.

Light, co2 and nutrient work hand in hand, in a high tech planted tank. With your high amount of light, you need the same level of co2 and nutrients to keep the balance.
