    What size is your filter? Cannot see it in your picture. The filter only comes with a charcoal media. You can throw in some biohomme if you want

    I believe it is a gex slim. I think the only complain is the slim profile means less media can be put in.

    Besides being slim, and having less space for media, personally I don't like this design as the motor is in the water. Not only does it heat up the water more as compared to the rest of the filters with motor not in contact with the water, the addition of the motor under water also distracts the viewers focus and attention.

    Some have resulted to work around the filter by planting around the motor to camouflage it.

    For a similar slim filter design which has the motor and impeller mounted outside instead like normal hang on filters, can consider the latest ISTA brand slim filter, works quite well too.

    Its a good filter. Silent and efficient.

    But... the motor is very ugly... In my opinion.

    Definitely did not like the motor in the tank.. Especially hindering where I place it to keep it out of sight.
