think its time to clean the tank... i dunno i only encounter earthworms in my tank... but i see its like some kinda fungus i think it seems to love your wood... maybe if YOU have a tweezers to take it out it will kill it? i am not a pro in tanks cause i kind like keep my tank simple.. but the white thingy does look like fungus...

I saw that in a friend's tank before... its indeed weird and creepy, can move around like some sort of amoeba creature.

Apparently its called Physarum Polycephalum, a sort of slime mold. They feed on dead organic matter... so its probably a sign to clean the tank, remove the mold manually, clean your filter and try to remove as much rotting leaves or food as possible.

Here is some info on it: http://waynesword.palomar.edu/slime1.htm

It probably grew from spores that hitchhiked in with the wood piece.

Perhaps it's time to rinse your filter, remove rotting plant mass, and introduce some cleaning crew like shrimps or otos if you don't have any.
