if your plants and all are healthy, just maintain low ph about 6 or so for them to do well. people think altums require lots of water perimeters but so far ive kept mine for almost 1 yr and i dont do anything specific for them either. Just as long as you do your regular water changes, keep low ph, it should be good enough.

Just make sure that you buy a healthy altum, most cases is not because the altum fail to adapt the planted tank but more on original condition when we got from the lfs/fish importer.

I believe this fish is imported and fly quite a long time by air cargo.
So once arrived it really in bad condition specially when they deliver in bulk such 50 fishes in 1 plastic bag...
Further the price is considered expensive..
But once the condition stable it should be easy for them to adapt with planted tank environment.

    Hope this help...

Well, try to go for low kH in your water too. Altums can grow up to a really big size. If you are setting up a tank for them, make sure your tank is as high as possible. 2ft deep is sufficient I guess, but the deeper the better. They can grow up to a really large size.

I've kept them just fine fat and healthy at 6.4 ph and a KH of 3/GH 5.
They do well, they take some time to get use to things, finding good healthy ones are the key. They are not particularly difficult fish once they settle in.

Based on the tapm water there, you should just focus on taking good care of the plants and then feed the fish a good varied diet.
