research from the net suggests anti-bacterial, potassium permanganate, salt etc....

but i'm not sure whether if it is advisable to use those in a planted tank..

    Hi,

Outbreaks of diseases in a planted tank is always awful. I would transfer my fishes to "hospital" tank (no substrate bare tank with age water) and treat them there. As for planted tank, you can use UV sterilizer and let the temp stay around 28-30 for a week. Hopefully by then the bacteria cycle is over.

Medications always kills our filter colony, not sure about Melafix and Pimafix but they arent as potent as others anyway. All the best with your course of treatment.
