Could Seachem Purigen causes this sudden death of juveniles? That is the only thing I added recently before the problem started.
Hi guys, I got about 8 adult and 20 new born of Sakuras in my mature tank. All the while my tank was doing well, no casualties and able to breed but for the last 5days, I found 7 juveniles dead. Checked the water parameters and found nitrate was high, about 40ppm and I have started doing 30% WC daily. I realised usually before the shrimps die, there will be a bold white strip between the head and body. Any expert could advise what is this problem? I just found an adult sakaru in the tank having this symptom.

Maybe daily 30% water change altered the water conditions beyond what you shrimp could cope. Not sure about the bold white stripe though.. is it caused by chlorine?? Dose more anti-chlorine/chloramines? Just sharing some thoughts.. Wait for the pros to come hahaha!
I would advise you check your gH and maintain it round 4 to 6. And probably cut back the daily water change to 10% - 20% and add lots of floating plants, plus reduce feeding for a few days to monitor the situation.
Firstly, 30% daily water change is too much, you will change your water parameters evey time and it can stress your shrimps. You shouldn't change more than once a week and each time no more than 20%. My main tank, which has 40 ppm nitrate for a few weeks because I forgot to check and I dont have any sudden deaths (I keep prls and painted fire red).
I've seen that white line before and I believe it's due to molting problems. Now I dose my tank with mosura with every water change, which is 10% weekly.
30% is too much... Plus daily... Way too much..your water is v unstable, ph and temp wise. Shrimps require lower temp thn fishes.
Maybe it the frequent wc that caused stress to ur fishes.
Nitrate can be controlled by adding plants .
Benefits ur shrimp too.
For my tank , I don't do wc...
Just adding water every week due to evaporation.
No casualty..
Sometimes , too much care can be fatal too![]()
FAILURE IS THE MOTHER OF ALL SUCCESS
just topping up without water change is fatal for shrimps in a long term run. TDS and nitrite build up will go into a dangerous level eventually

Add frogbits to cover 1/3 or 1/2 of your water surface shud solve problem of nitrates build up.
Standard procedure for all my shrimp tanks.
Does all your dead shrimp have the white band?
Recent studies shows that putting recent studies in your statement have a higher percentage of trust people put into your recent studies. What?
White bar due to improper molting due to water changes too much daily. Causing KH,GH to fluctuate everyday.
Improper molting could mean bacterial infection, Lack of calcium or KH/GH is not in ideal range.
The white bar is where shrimps arch their back and shoot out from the old shell.
Do check the best range for RCS.

i support all the mention on molting problems.
cause of your molting problems is the water change in my opinion.
I would advise 1 last water change of 50% (fill a pail with tap water and prime, wait for 3 mins and do the water change) and then leave it for a week. after which do a 20% change. you would see some more deaths for the next 3 days, but should stabilise.
Please get more hornworts.. lots of it and place them in your tank to absorb the nitrates after the 50% change. If you need hornworts and stay near woodlands, let me know. can pass you some.
I also suspect you have a too much heavy metals in the tank. Is your tank exposed to the environment, open air outside tank?
I am balding but i am still young!
Oops sorry TS, missed out "Gravidas". I used mosura gravidas with every 10% water change both to encourage successful molting and to prevent berried shrimps from dropping their eggs.
I think your unsuccessful molting is due to bacteria rather than water change. Like you mentioned, your deaths occur before the frequent water change, and from my experiences, my white bar deaths come in bouts, and once when I add in 20 new shrimps. They could be the ones that "contaminate" my shrimps.
