Normally bare tank is much more easier to maintain compare with a planted tank.

Don't do such a big change so soon. A stressed fish will not improve the situation.

Just monitor the fishes situation and most important the water parameter.

As for the rest, let mother nature condition them slowly.

Decrease the feeding to maybe once every 2 days to prevent the water from fouling.

amonia is very yellow, and nitrite nitrate quite low. not zero but seems fine.
unless this test kit is not working well of course.

there is a new plant added, its big floating red bigger than palm hand, like a spider web, not sure the name.
i dont think its poisonous though

    Just for sharing

my comm tank is similar to yours.
got pleco, cory, congo tetra and angelfishes.

For my mild fin rot situation in the angels, the most possible cause is due to overcrowded and fighting.

In the end, I had to resort to shifting all the angels out of the comm tank to a quarantine tank. I gave out 4 out of 12 to a fellow AQ brother.

The rest are given 3 days of treatment with yellow powder (subjective treatment as it is a kind of antibiotic treatment). During this period, I also do deworming by letting them go on a diet (no feeding).
Maintain the bottom clean by clearing the poop everyone morning and night.

Did a 50% wc on the 3rd day and started feeding. So far, the situation had improved. Had shifted 4 angels back to the comm tank.

My tank is 2ft but not as tall as yours. Approx 48L of water, plus or minus as my tank is not filled to the brim. My dosage is based on Suzerolt post.
Hmm.. Hopefully you are able to keep the disease in control. Might have been a mini-cycle which causes your water parameters to fluctuate. Care to share some pics on how bad is your case of fin rot?

cant seem to upload from tapatalk, always got no permission in this forum thing.

anyway, one of my stripped pleco died sobs...
been with me for over 2yrs. so sad.
when this guy died means water must be really bad.

i half decom and moved them to my turtle setup back.
turtle moved to their temporary home
i removed all woods, and probably catch the rest later eve.
then will re setup my tank.
this time will not move them back for a month maybe.

was thinking that maybeinsufficient filtering as well.
as when they are in the refugee tank both filters jebo838 and tetra75 were cycling together there. maybe i should get another filter for my 45cm tall tank

Hi guys, thanks for all the help.
Sterbai cories' fins are looking much better already.
I have already stopped dosing aquarium salt about a week ago since their improvement.

Re: Fin rot? What medication to get?

I discovered my male guppy losing its tail. I have a small tank 30 cm size only.

Advice from the experts, should I do water change or try to medicate using salt?

If it is mild rot, maintain good water parameter and increase temp to about 30 degree should be enough

    Kiang

Mine is a rudimentary set up, no heater but left in the hall w no ac just fan. Water change can I do daily for the time being.

Just to clarify it's hanging close to the surface away from the other fishes and there's also ghost shrimp (the feeder sort) in the tank as well.

I will try to take a picture tomorrow.

Well fin rot no more. The circle of life continues. Now need to get another male. All the other fishes (4 mollies and 4 guppies plus 1 sucker) seem to be OK.

    Any thoughts from the experts?

Re: Fin rot? What medication to get?

Next time...try adding those water conditioners that claim to improve slime coat for the fish I always add some when I have injured fish and it does help the healing process. Watch out for your ghost shrimp...those in LFS we usually buy as feeders are quite aggressive when hungry. Some will actively hunt...standing on ornaments and waiting for a guppy to swim by... Once I even saw a ghost shrimp chewing on to my fancy goldfish's tail...leaving the fish with a frayed tail. So do take note of that.

Re: Fin rot? What medication to get?

I've added some aquarium salt, and reduced the no of ghost shrimps in the tank.

I got another male which didn't survive past the night from. C328, then got another less pretty or rather handsome male from sunset way shop, which has survives since Friday evening.

    Let's hope for the best.

Want to ask - what about those blue coloured salt sold in lfs. Are these ok to use?
