I own a CL450. If I don't remember wrongly, the recommended flow rate 600 - 1200l/h.
IMO, there is no problem having a slightly higher flowrate. It will improve the chilling rate of the aquarium.

I am going to set up a 4x1.5x1.5 tank (should be about 180 to 200 liter of water).
Filter (Eheim 2026) flow rate is 1000 liter per hour and considering to buy Resun chiller CL450.
Understand the chiller optimal flow rate is about 500 liter per hour.
Should I use a t-joint at the water outlet of the filter so that one will go to the chiller (then the chiller will go into the tank) and the other will go directly into the tank?
Will this t-joint set up make the chiller run harder/longer compared to if I connect the filter outlet directly to the chiller inlet?
Can somebody help?

i need some help guys on setting up my chiller , i have a cl450 and an eheim 2227 canister filter... from my understanding you run a pip from your tank into the inlet side of your filter.... then from the outlet side of your filter to the chiller inlet side.... then from the outlet side of your chiller back into the tank ? can someone please tell me if this is right or not ??

Yes, correct. Always filter the water before it goes into the chiller. Prevents stuff getting stuck inside the chiller.

The resistance of the chiller is rather high as compare to direct back to the tank. Therefore, due to the irregular resistance, most if not all the water will be pump straight back to the tank instead of passing through your chiller!
You should jus connect your filter output to your chiller input, chiller output to your tank!



are you sure you want to use a CL450.
i suggest you use a CL 650
i'm currently having a 3 feet tank, CL 450 just nice for the 3 feet.
I think the chiller will overwork if your tank is a 4 feet.
My chiller kicks in every 1.5 hours, run for 0.5 hour and the cycles goes on during lighting period.
During off lighting periods, chiller kicks in every 4 hours and run for 15mins.
But i'm using MH lights so water heats up pretty fast.
