Are you referring to the marsilea hirsuta?
You can refer to the plants in the image below (exclude the hairgrass)

Since you have CO2, and it is a good saturday, I suggest you visit your lfs to get some proper freshwater plants substrate. Most people seems to go for ADA here, I also liked it but too costly for me.
For your light set, I suggest changing the light tube to 6500K white light if your current setup is from marine. It should be actinic blue? I have tried 50% actinic blue with 50% white, doesn't work very well for me.
Below is a link for your reading on plants subtrate:
http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/pl...tsubstrate.htm
To calculate the amount of substrate you need. You can multiply your tank (length X width) X 6cm/1000 to obtain the minimum amount in kilograms. This is provided if you are looking for a flat landscape (iwagumi setup).
You also need fertilizer for the plants even if the substrate is fresh. Nitrogen, Potassium, Prosphorus, Iron and Trace Elements. For a start, you can get Seachem Flourish which has a content mixture for NPK and trace elements. If budget allowed, perhaps get some nitrying bacteria to help speed up cycling process.
I am just assuming that your tank substrate is also from your previous marine tank transfer so it could be the salinity that is causing problems for your plants.
Hope it helps, have fun!

I don't know much about marine tank. Have only kept once when I was in secondary school, that was donkey years back. All I have is a big piece of anemone which always get itself stuck in the overflow filter. Don't think i will do marine tank as I don't like the salt corrosion problem.

Have you ever tried just leaving the lid off the tank you won't have that salt problem the water might leave the tank and I know this sounds crazy but I olny do about 3 water changes a year on my 90 gallon saltwater and I have no lid on it and it is thriving with corals when water leaves the tank the salt stays so say you have about an half inch to an inch of water missing just purifie the water and pour it in and it should be fine that's how I do my 90 gallon and I've had it for about 5 years

I recall I don't have any lid on the aquarium back then. But I remember my stand, cabinet and quite a few other stuff around the aquarium was experiencing corrosion. I don't think the salt will ever leave the tank. But when I need to dip my hands into the tank, I believe some of these saltwater may have dripped from my hands which get in touch with the wood, metal and plastics. Wiping them doesn't seems to be useful as salt is usually a residue from evaporation.
I only like to see marine tanks, keeping them is a sure no for me.![]()
