Baby Snails ID. Could this be a baby nerite snail or mesa ramshorn?

I had them in my fish tank last time, looked like a pond snail but the shell is kind of different. Anyway in the end no one managed to ID, but it should be a type of pond snail, just that I have no idea what species.

This looks the last snail image which I posted. The cone development seems to be short point at the end of the shell.

The rest of the snail looks more like mesa ramshorn. But then again, there must be some snails keeper here who can help us too

Looks like one of the many varied species of pond snail that hitchhike in with plants... i'm not an expert snail keeper, but i pick and smash enough of them from my plant quarantine tank to recognize their shape.

Doesn't look like the common pond snail I had encountered before...shell shaped differently and "layering" pattern is too obvious.
Nerite is highly unlikely as they don't breed in fresh water.

Here's a pic of the usual pond snails we find hitchhiking on plants. Note the smooth shell and distinctive "air bubble" patterns.

I also have 1-2 common pond snails in my tank. As long as they dont grow too big i am ok to house them. Haha. Believe this will be an interesting topic.

I also read that there are about 19 local species of nerite snails found in singapore. Some of them i have ever seen in local fish shop.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I read that some snails can harbour parasites...some parasites even require snails to complete their life cycles... Hence I enforced a no snail policy in my tanks^^ Better safe than sorry.

True also. I did read about a specific parasite which is mainly found in freshwater.

I am not sure how we can potentially stop parasites in our tank. So you are right, we can cut down risk by not having snails.

Looks like a moon bladder snail or could be another variant of common bladder snail. Still too early to tell.

What you have are baby Ramshorn. They start out like this before the shell gets to the usual shape. I had baby common Ramshorn snails that grew up just like this. Pond Snails aka Physa snails will always have a pointy end to their shells. Take note however, that if you have a lot of these baby Ramshorn, be prepared to see some plants go "botak". My entire patch of Vallisneria in an old setup was decimated by the common ramshorn.

Oh yeah. I actually removed at least 50 over pieces during the last few days as they were blocking my front view. Gave me no choice. Haha

There is a small member of the ramshorn snail family called Amerianna carinata that looks like the snail in the first photo. It's native to Australia, but looks like it has become established here after hitching a ride via imports from plant nurseries.

I saw this specie in some of the snails which I removed from my tank. I think I am left with another two rounds to have them fully removed. They really loved to block my front view.

Parasites such as Schistosoma worms are dependant on specific snail species to spread. You can find a list of the specific snail vectors here:

I don't think any of these snails are the ones commercially available through the aquarium trade so you are quite safe with ramshorns, nephrites etc. But they can hitch a ride on plants...

These snails breed like rats, I have ignored them for months and been picking them off my 1ft cube tank for the past 4 days in the hundreds per day. I estimate to have removed at least 500 of these snails in the past 4 days, I'm not joking, they hide below moss rocks and good camouflage on the brown soil substrate... I reckon need another week to pick off those still hiding inside the moss rocks and driftwoods.

Lesson learned, pick them off as soon as possible if you do not want it in your tank.
