Hi bros, I'm thinking of getting a wavemaker to supplement my 2213 in my planted tank. After doing some research on wavemakers, I realized that there are generally 2types:
    1) direct straight line flow
    2) broad indirect flow which covers a larger area

any recommendations for the latter type?

    happy Chinese New Year!

The wavemaker is for water circulation in the tank? How big is your tank?
i did use a wavemaker on my 3 feet but it was too strong and plants dance like they were on 'E'.
so i switch to power head and fitted a rotatable duck nozzle outlet to the ouput flow.

60 x 30 x 45 tank. I'm worried the 2213 is unable to provide sufficient flow and create dead spots.

How about getting an additional canister like 2211?

I am running 2213 and Eco Pro 300 in my 60x45x45 tank.

    Re: Choice of wave maker

Well that is an option.. I do have spare HOFs that I could use. A canister is probably out of the Q because I'm running 2 canisters already on 2 separate tanks. And I was hoping for something that is small and effective. Was looking at the range of hydro koralias.

I have a similar problem as you, using lily pipe + 2213 and the dead spots are all next to the pipe. Have got a HOF but feel it's unsightly.

was considering a cheap wave maker, not sure if it will be overpowering in my 60x23x28 tank

Cheap as in less than $100? Look at Jebao wavemaker, wp25 or wp 40. Comes with controller, google for more info on the product.

My cheap is below 50 haha. But I'm more concerned in getting one that creates a broad flow

You can get 3w to 25w less than 50sgd. Like i said i used a 3w in my 3feet tank and it is just too much.
IMHO a power head works better.

Yes, it is too much. You want to provide sufficient flow through out the tank
not to create Cat One hurricane .
