    Re: Chiller for 2213

I did some looking around and i realised my 2213 would not have enough juice to drive a chiller. I'm not really keen to sell away my 2213 as i just bought it, is there any other way to run a chiller ?

Why not? 2213 is 400+ L per hour right? I am also using a 2213 and i am running it with a hailea 150A. Works just fine.

    Re: Chiller for 2213

i would give you a hug!!! I was googling around and most chillers that i saw online runs on like 800l/h flow rate that's why i suppose i'm dead. For once i though i hit a roadblock. The reason why i'm reluctant to change canister is because i have ordered Liliy Pipes and in line diffusor so if i change canister all the stuff will be wasted. If possible can share your setup please

    Re: Chiller for 2213

2213->chiller->tank and this is the cycle. This picture was from more than 2 years ago for CRS breeding, Currently i am using the chiller in my other tank which is powered by a Sicce filter running at a rated 700L per hour.

The minimum flowrate thing you do not have to really pay attention to it, it is there so that the chiller would not freeze etc. Actually the bigger the chiller the more electric you would save, but not too big as the freezing might happen. For your case i recommend something around 1/10 or 1/15 HP. Also depends on how big the tank you are planning to chill is.

Freezing you mean water in the chiller freezes because flow rate too slow isit ?
My tank is 2 x1.5 x1.5. Will look around for the model (Hailea 150A) Thanks a million!!!

yes. but this normally does not happen unless you use a really oversized one for a really puny filter. In this case just use 150A is not a problem at all. In fact you can go up to 250A-300A just ask for the change of connector size.

If you are not on budget you can go for Artica ones. Although hailea ones for the 150A is already over $300 for a brand new one

    Re: Chiller for 2213

It is a 1/4HP, too much for a 2feet , I am not sure if it would freeze but because it can cool so fast your chiller will turn on and off due to the unstable tempreature. Unless you modify it to external probe, but then once again I am not sure if any ice would form even if modified to external probe.

Better choice would be resun280 or someting near that

    Re: Chiller for 2213

I just bought a JBJ Arctic chiller 1/10hp and like what you said, i ignored the flowrate recomendation and hooked it up with my 2213 and it is running with no issues. Flow rate from the returns is still strong enough to provide currents and movements in the tank. Thank you so much, you're really helpful.

1/10 can if your area has aircon , but you might be pushing the chiller as it is rated to about 200L max.
for non aircon, min 1/6 if your house is relatively cool , but 1/5 or 1/4 would be better
