Looking good. Pretty sure the Galaxy will be hiding most of the time you are infront of the tank and out when you are far away, happen to mine always haha. Maybe Cory Pygmy and neon green?

I see a snail in there, you placed it or it just hitch hike in? I been clearing out 100s and I mean 100s of pond snails daily from my 1 ft cube for the past three days. Going to continue to do it for as long as I see them in it.

Re: 2014 2 feet tank setup

the snails has been staying inside since the old setup...
lazy to clear them so just leave them inside they will die off after awhile leaving the empty shells behind..

have changed water this morning.. and upon adding water, the dust come back again....
really feel like taking out the soil and give it rinse then slowly scoop back...

From the photo, do not look like 2ft. looks bigger.

Dust really a lot. can either add a new layer of soil to top it and bury the dust or solve the problem once and for all , like you mentioned, take out wash and put back.

Substrate will get dusty when they matured. It will be easier to siphone the dust out and top up new substrate slowly instead of re-doing everything unless there is no flora or fauna inside. Gallaxy will hide most of the time. Your tank looks good for oto and amano shrimps to help clean up dusty area on rocks surface.

I am lucky that my 4 galaxy do not hide at all though they are quite timid. They always stay near the bottom searching for food

Get 20 galaxy rasbora and they won't hide. They are small so you don't have to worry about overcrowding. I have 20 in my 2 feet.
