Great way to spend a Sunday!
Hi all,
I went to Daiso with my wife today. nearly lost her..
Before making the lost wife report at the reception counter, i looked around and saw thin glass cups. Bought one back home to see if i could make any use of them... Smallest scape i have ever done.
Items bought and required...
Jelly type glue. Thanks to Urban Aquaria for sharing this goodie!
Some pebbles i had lying around.. and a glass i just bought
Snip some petite nana and golden nana and stick them to the pebbles
scape 1, something was missing.. some natural contrast was missing. its not natural at all..
decided to put in some soil to "naturalise" things.
Scape.. not easy.. fat fingers and small glass.. not a good combination at all..
On my table.. makes a nice center piece! waiting for the nana to grow...
Some other pictures to share.
Its really easy to start.. but it will be a pain to maintain.
water level is low and placed in a well ventilated area.. CO2 levels should be minimal.. water changes.. i think everyday..
I am balding but i am still young!
Great way to spend a Sunday!
ya, finding my way around a packed daiso is no joke..
I am balding but i am still young!
The only daiso that can lose people is IMM..
Maintain always a pain haha...

Hi Erctheanda, nice work there.
You can try grow them all on 1 rock so when you add soil you can cover it. Will look nicer. add afew little fish(boraras brigittae) could be nice. Feed them alternate day if need.
You can use plastic mesh(find them at the plant corner), you can tied them to the mesh and add soil to cover it.
just a suggestion.
Best Regards, TS

Thanks for the recommendations blue bubbles. I am currently placing it beside my tank for ease of maintenance. Will keep a look out for a nice glass lid if possible.

Cup Tank is officially decommed! too much water change routine for me.
This is what it has become!
no water.. so not considered aquascape.. HAHA

looks good nonetheless!![]()
Look like some kind of sedum. They need high light and...probably not wet feet. I am looking for the unrooted sedum (meaning you just placed them on soil and they roll itself with tiny roots). Was told they were used to cool rooftop. The last I saw was at Orhid nursery near mandai. That was many years ago and you pay entrance fee to get in unless you intend to buy something inside or a member of the nursery.

Yup. You are right, the plant is a sedum, Echeveria Cultivar 'Lola' or non Lola.
Bought from upper Thomson nursery, I recall it's Far East. I have high light and will wet the roots once soil is dry. I don't want to to grow to much.. Wait I need to upsize the daiso glass soon.. Haha.
Only concern is whether it will survive with limited wind or wind movement.

There other tonnes of different varieties sedum in the market. Ikea used to carry different miniature specimens in the past. Some are hardy, some are not. Overall, they are beautiful flora with multiple colors and they do change color (like Malayan Shrimp) depending on seasons. If the succulent leave accidentally drop off, plant them back and it will grow roots.
Sedum thrive in good drainage soil, preferably seramis (not cheap, I am thinking of selling them)..hehe People used sedum for terranium too and sometimes they mixed them in Cacti scape.T hey shouldn't be difficult to grow. At least few hours of sunlight is good enough. Someday, I might try them out using my T5 light - terranium style.
The above is my limited knowledge about succulent plants.

you are absolutely right. I did some research after reading your reply and it seems that my knowledge on the subject is way less than yours.
the little soil i have in the cup is actually a mix of perlite, husk and loam soil. idea was to introduce the roots to a moist environment. will be allowing the soil to dry between sprays of water.. probably every week once or less.
With this i hope that the sedum does not thrive, but just survive. thats my motto with small terrariums and cup tanks.. don't want them to grow..
sometimes it makes me wonder why i don't want to just buy plastic plants. LOL.. uncle hobby i guess.
