    Hi guys,

Would love to have some expert advise on fluidized bed filter. I am currently running my 1.5ft tank with this configuration: inlet>prefilter (sponge wool)>eden 501 (bio ring/carbon)>chiller>up aqua atomizer>outlet

Well love diy stuffs and addicted to tinkering with this setup and was thinking of adding a fluidized bed filter in between the prefilter and the eden 501. I think i am putting too much stress on the 501. Eventual upgrade would be an eheim 2211. Was thinking if it is necessary or am i just doing too much?!

    Thanks!
    Dan

Fluidized bed filter should be placed after the pump, not before. It needs to be driven to produce the fluidisation effect seen in the container.

Ah yes I forgot about that part hahah. But do you think the eden 501 is strong enough? Considering all the attachments to it as mentioned in the first post.

    Thanks

What do you intend to place in the container, activated carbon, K1 media, bio pellet or water polishing media? However, I've never tried connecting the Eden 501 to such configuration, I believe you are the best person to answer your question. A point to note if you're using those water polishing media, they are not meant for prolong use.

Hi, I've seen fluidized filter running on regular sand to culture the bacteria and i am going to use sudo sand leftover from my scape. Though the seachem purigen caught my eye but that would make it a different type of filtration. Shall experiment with sand first to see how it goes.
Thank you for your help Rohaizal!
