    Hi everyone, I 'm a newbie. Am setting up a cichlids tank. Read somewhere that people put styrofoam on the base of the tank to distribute the weight of the rocks and prevent damage to the tank before laying the rocks then the sand on top. Anyone who has done this? Could you please share your experience? Got a few concerns too. Does the styrofoam disintegrate in the tank over time? Is it safe for the fish? Will the fish eat the styrofoam? Any information on setting up cichlids tank is appreciated. Thank you.

    Styrofoam does disintegrate. Now people generally use "eggcrates" to distribute weight.

    Most Lfs will sell. Last i checked, c328, y618, seaview, nks were selling.
