Hi all, I have a 3ft by 1.5 by 1.5 ft tank slightly more than 3/4 filled. My question is whether it is advisable to use 2 canister filters on a 3ft tank. I have a Jebo 839 and Jebao 304 and a powerhead, currently using powerhead and jebo but I plan to replace the powerhead with the jebao. Because the hose of my OHF detached and flooded my living room...And also the fact that my red eared slider creates a lot of waste and I plan to reduce maintenance time. Any canister gurus able to assist? My intention is for the Jebo outlet to be placed at bottom of the tank while Jebao will be at the middle of the tank.. One will provide mechanical filtration and one will provide biological filtration...

    Re: Dual Canister Filter Question

I'm using two canister filters for my heavily planted 100l tank, total printed flowrate is 1100l (but lower in practice once media is added).

    Using two canisters means
    (1) I have flexibility to position 2 outlets to improve the water flow in my tank which I find useful.
    (2) UV steriliser is connected to the canister with lower flowrate. (as steriliser works better with lower flowrate).

It's good that you are thinking of more filtration rather than less. For res, you will need quite a bit of filtration. If your objective is to reduce maintenance, what I recommend is to have 2 filters connected to a big pump. Sequence is
Big pump -- first filter (mechanical) -- second filter (bio).

But you will still need to change water. Since nitrates will be high. Unless you have a nitrate filter like algae wall or hornworts section.
I am balding but i am still young!
