Good luck to you.
For me, I'm excited when my wilds breed.
A couple of photos of a very young pair of Betta persephone "Ayer Hitam", around 1.5 - 2.5 cm. The photos were taken shortly after they were being introduced to their respective tanks.
Male Betta persephone. This is a rather densely planted tank and apparently, the male prefers refuge among the plants and away from the camera.
Female Betta persephone. The female is a bit more cooperative but I had a hard time trying to keep a good focus, so it ends up as a crappy shot. I have decided not take any more photos as she is starting to feel a bit stressed. As size matters, she's really tiny at the moment and so I have decided to keep her separately.
This is my third attempt with these fish. The first try didn't turn out well. I had a trio of the "Muar" strain and tried to breed them but it's plain silly. The second one, I ended up with a pair of males, each building their own elaborate nests. One big difference this time round is the age of the breeders. Once again, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
