I'm not an electronic guy but wanted to find a programmable led time controller that light up progressively over a period of time to avoid the light shock for fishes and my dogs haha.

Found this module TC420 controller (http://dx.com/p/tc420-1-4-led-progra...7#.UxyQ0oV7buU) and managed to use it to control a light set for my 30cm cube (12v, 0.5amp) using a 12v, 2amp ac-dc adapter. Feeling happy that it worked, I used the same setup to try to power up the ADA Aquasky 601 but it won't light up, I reckon it could be due to the fact that 601 rating is 34v, 0.9amp.

My question is, are there any ways to use the TC420 to control Aquasky 601 (add on transformer, step up adapter etc) or know of any product(s) out there that provide the same results?

Wow interesting piece of equipment. I'm running an evo 12, would love to know if it works for it too. Will keep this thread in view for expert comments! Hope you get advice from them.

What length are those evo of yours? I have a 2ft and a 3ft, perhaps I will try it tonight.

Mine is the smallest one. 1ft i think evo 12. So the the device can gradually dim the lights on and off? Simulate natural lighting?

Should work, cause it worked on my 301 which is also 1ft and using 12v, 0.5amp. This device supports up to 24v, however the 601 is 25-34v (I took it for granted that it should just be slighly higher than 301 rating)... I'm heading to SLT later, if they can't solve my problem, I have one brand new in box spare to sell (Bought two sets)...

Tried it on the 3ft green element and it worked. I guess the Aquasky 601 is simply too high powered in term of voltage requirement for the device. I reckon it should work on your 1ft evo.

Hmm..... Actually you should had consider a capacitor parallel connection to your lighting..... Initial power will be charging the capacitor, so remaining power will be to your LED light.

So starting phrase, your LED should be dim and slowly brighten up (Depending on the capacitor rate capacity), and will be on 100% after several seconds....

When you off the LED, the capacitor will discharges it power, and slowly your LED will dim down and off....

Oh ya.... capacitor is very cheap!!!! A few dollar only!!!!

Cheers! Lucky I learned Mechatronic in Poly.......
