Frogbits need to be replaced?

Hi all, i have read that frogbits need to be replaced after 2 weeks otherwise it will leech nitrates back into the tank. Is that true?

The only thing i have ever heard that will leech back into the tank are carbon when it reached it's limit. Which kind of describe what you just said "Changing every 2 weeks".
