Get a fan and you can have RCS. 30 degree is torturous to them and deadly to majority.

Think you can keep macrobrachium shrimps or amano shrimps or fan shrimps. 30 deg C is a bit high for cherry shrimps and its variants, 28 deg C would be better.

30 is too risky. And have to take into consideration the readings are plus minus 1. Run a fan to bring down to 28 or 29 and don't put near the windows. Hot air will blow in on crazy hot days and your shrimps and some types of plants will suffer.
I use my home standing fans for my tank.
If u wana do interesting shrimps like yellows, blues, or rilis, etc, u need alot of effort to top up the evaporated water to maintain your water parameters. U cannot just pour in water one shot. U need to top slowly and have to age your water first.
I'm just speaking from experience, I'm having crs and blue shrimps with fan and the current weather is so screwed, the efforts to maintain the tank is no joke if u are not so experienced in shrimping, and I'm already thinking of getting chiller for my crs.

1 ft can do with fan and also, better have a bubble filter to create air bubbles so your tank is more oxygenated on hotter days. Warm waters tend to have less oxygen.
I have a hof and an air bubble filter in my tank.

Haha, normal table top fan, standing fan, ceiling fan, wall fan etc all can be used as I am sure you have 1 laying around in your house...but power consumption will be higher of course....

Cheap ones will be dymax I think but quite noisy. U can try.
Ya home fans will have higher power consumption. I use gex aquarium fan but will also need to on the standing fan to cool the room on extremely hot days.
That's the thing about not having chillers for crs.

    Re: Tank temperature for shrimp

Shrimp hobby is quite expensive to maintain ..considering the effort to maintain, monitor the water parameters alone may scare away most people...
Not to mention those really ridiculously expensive BKK, don't know what red-blue-yellow line shrimps...etc.

Well its a hobby...haha so have to spend. Even if you go jogging also have to buy a pair of sneakers right?....lol

If you really tight on budget yet you really keen to keep some simple shrimps in room temperature setup around 29 degrees, your best candidate is malayan shrimps and amano shrimps.

Fyi, Malayan shrimps are also known as colour shrimps, rainbow shrimps..

Read more about keeping shrimps, cycle of tank, maintaining water parameter. No matter how hardy a shrimp the seller/shopkeeper might tell you, shrimps are a lot more fragile than fish.

I am content with malayans, yamatos, FR, sakuras in my fan cooled tank... they are algae crew in my scape yet they also adds some variety of colours to it...

    Re: Tank temperature for shrimp

In order to save electricity. I intend to make some ice form anti chorine water and throw in at night. So I can off the fan and maintain low temperature. At the same time the melted ice can compensate for the water loss. Anyone tried that before?
