Hello,
My name is Chad. Ive been in the hobby for about 7 years. In the last year I have really been focusing on my planted tanks. Ive recently converted all 3 if my planted tanks (140 gallon long, 30 gallon, 9.5 gallon long) to plant growing LED's. Ive been inspired by Dutch planted tanks and similar set ups and current slowly switching many of my plants out for rarer hard to find species.

My hope by joining this forum is to meet people with experience, find neat new plants to grow.

Well, last weekend I completely overhauled my 140 gallon & waiting for some more plants to arrive. Once I get those plants planted I will take some snap shots an post em.

IDK if this will turn out to be exactly a 'Dutch' tank but I am using many of the plants used in that type aquascape. I have a few plants and large woods with ferns that I am committed to and not ready to part with yet. On top of that I am really into dwarf cichlids. So there are a few Dwarf Acara, Dwarf Pike pair, Apistigramma, 20-30 tetra, and an array of cleaner critters. I am not sure how they will all fit into the new aquascape.

for the fishes listed, they all blend well in a planted tank. in fact, i think the additional cover and shadows created is great for them. not to mention the low hardness and lower PH water is ideal for plants and apistos as well. the only issue i can see is if you need to add shrimp as clean up crew. apistos love shrimp. in their diet..

Anyways, a word of advice, the moderators of this forum don't take kindly to SMS lingo. things like "IDK" or "u" are frowned upon.

Nevertheless.. looking forward to you "Dutch" tank!

Understood, thanks for the tip about the typing shortcut. Using a mobile device , it's so easy to to convert to SMS lingo

You are right , shrimp get devastated in the tank. I do however have Siamese Algae eaters, a school of otocinclus. This with a few Mystery snails and a colony of Malaysian Trumpet snails got a pretty good team to help keep the tank algae and debris to a minimum.

If your using iPhone?
It can natively type 'u' to you.. Google abit can easily find.

Due to work I'm typing from mobile almost all the time. No such problem, takes abit of training.

Hi chad, welcome to AQ. Currently there's a trend of 'buceps' as "neat new plants to grow". They are extremely slow growing, and yet very intricate.

Do keep us updated on your Dutch tank...
