How to install double tap when i have a Eheim 2213 and chiller already connected?

Hello,

I just setup my first tank recently with a Eheim 2213 and a chiller.

Now I am intending to purchase double taps and add it to my setup.

My question is : what would be the best way to install it without flooding my room?

Also, am I right to say that I will need 3 sets of double tap?

1st for hose connecting tank to cannister
2nd for hose connecting cannister to chiller
3rd for hose connecting chiller back to cannister

Please kindly advise.

You'll need to drain all the water out of the filter (like you are cleaning it)... then install the double-taps in the respective hoses.

3 double-taps would be ideal in your case, so that you can shut them whenever you need to do filter maintenance and separate the filter and chiller neatly without water spilling everywhere.

What about for the chiller? If i were to remove the host from the chiller the water (inside the chiller) will be pouring out. Is there anyway I can prevent this?

I guess you could hold the hoses above chiller to prevent the water from siphoning out (while doing the installation)... but it'll be better to just drain all the water out of both the filter and chiller and do the installation, much easier and less potentially messy. Consider it like setting up the system from scratch.
