I'm keeping a shrimp tank for quite sometime. However, every time I'll notice this insect swimming about in my tank and it will disappear every time I try to scoop it out. It will hide inside the moss and vanish out of my sight. I've managed to scoop a few out but after few weeks it will appear again.
Below is a reference picture I took which is exactly the same insect that is bothering me in my shrimp tank. Will it pose a hazard to my shrimps? I can't be sure if my shrimps population got lesser cause there's too many driftwood and rocks and moss in my tank.
Advice is needed.

I've also seen black bugs in my tank which resembles a beetle cum spider in my tank. Managed to scoop out 2 and never seen it ever since.
Alright this is scary. I just watched a YouTube video of a damsel fly nymph devouring a small fish. My hair stood like crazy.

Besides scooping it out any other ways to prevent this? I don't understand why it has to be in my shrimp tank!! Oh god.

damselfly no choice always lay eggs in shrimp tank where there is no fish to predate them ,our tank water should be best condition for their nymph, free food to snack as well , beginning of mine set-up i caught one too
lucky it appear on mine viewing glass but the black bug you mention probably a hitchhiker from some where maybe even water scorpion or water boatman ?
This is driving me crazy! I guess my ottos are no match for them either. Well gonna try my luck scooping them out when I book out. Dam flies!

The water bug issue should be resolved by now. Cause I don't see them already. It's just this stick insect that's affecting me a lot. My poor shrimplets....

Aquatic plants from LFS at times have damselfly eggs on them.. So when you put plants into your tank, they hatch in your tank..
Like limz_777 mentioned, they might lay eggs on the plants too..
Just try to catch it out as soon as possible, or else shrimps (or fishes) will become their meals...

I caught one previous using pincher, I guess I was lucky to lower the pincher very slowly and just grab it. I wasn't aware what it was until I caught it and posted it on facebook, that's where my friend link the youtube video of the nymph preying on small fishes!
Alright maybe I should try that. Haha
