    Hi..

Perhaps you should cover your foreground with more moss. I'm sure your shrimps will appreciate that extra plants to gaze around..

The nana on the front right could be set as a mid ground plant instead?

    Just an opinion from me..

Don't worry, once they breed you will be wondering who to give or where to house them

Are the water parameters alright? If 1 keeps dying every other day, it's a sign.

    HELP shrimp soil
standard filter media from Ocean free Nano space 3 tank.
    dynamax fan
    1 bag of ceramic ring
    some plants
    temp = 27-29deg

don't have test kit to measure PH. otto algea eaters doing very well.

    Re: Sharing my new tank

ok, in my mind now i can think of a few possible causes.
    1. tank is not yet cycled. if the filter media is new, 2 weeks of cycling is not enough.
    2. the rocks in the tank, are they aquatic rocks? are they breaking down?
    3. shrimp sick.. unlikely though..

are the rest of the shrimps active? any plants dying? are you dosing any fertilizers?

    Sharing my new tank

Hmm. Assuming you didn't dose any beneficial bacteria and start the cycle from scratch, I'd say that ammonia/nitrite spike could cause your shrimps to die. Maybe you should check this aspect.

If I'm not wrong you had your shrimps for about 1 week, those that died early can be attributed to weak/stress from transport (assuming you acclimatized them properly).

Shrimps illnesses are kind of rare and not yet thoroughly explored by scientists but from what I know they appear in a form of fungal growth. But I don't think this is the case because it is easily noticed.

Next, one of the most common causes is actually overfeeding. Firstly being, it creates an ammonia spike if you feed way more than your shrimps can eat. Secondly, which I have read a lot about, is that just overfeeding really kills your shrimp. I'm not too sure why though.

Another reason is fertilizers. I have way too many mistakes in this area; where I accidentally sprayed excel into a nearby shrimp (using syringe). And next thing I find is a very inactive and soon to be dead shrimp. Fertilizers that accumulate over time can also be detrimental to the shrimps' health.

Another case is also medication but I don't think it will apply here.

Last thing that I can think of is molting issue. If you are keeping RCS/FR they shouldn't have any issues with molts though. Not too sure with CRS...

The rocks are purchased from Clementi fish shop. Not sure if aquatic
    Shrimps are lively
2 types of plants not doing very well. The other 3 are ok

I did not dose anything. All brand new.

I did my best to acclimatized them. They were doing very well first week

I feed only 1 small pallet per day. Some never even get to eat

    No fertilizers

I think is water. 1 Otto algae eater just died

    Re: Sharing my new tank

If both shrimps and fishes are dying, it means the tank parameters are fluctuating too much, most likely the tank is still cycling and not stable yet.

Don't add anymore fishes or shrimps, let the tank finish cycling first, do more frequent water changes to flush out the excess ammonia, nitrite and nitrates.

    Re: Sharing my new tank

Yup. Definitely cycling, get the test kit if you don't have any. At least you will know which stage of cycling you are at, and eliminates a lot of guessing game if your fauna dies in the future (touch wood).
