its funny how the gf always nags when purchasing at the LFS, but displays so much interest in the tank at home. waaaa the shrimp so cuteeeee, buy a few more friends for them leh.... - .-
got from NA loh and because of the hotter days, the water is also getting hotter so diy a little light stand to raise the light by 8" from the water surface. need to make a pair of small stainless hooks for the lights. the black string looks awful.

after decom my 3x2x2 marine, left the tank lying ard for a year till 3 weeks ago.........change the return frm 1260 to 1250 for slower flow rate.
found my old driftwood frm 6 years ago, bought some ferns and stuff it into the wood.
more pics.....
It's just a simple sump tank.
my low tech tank
@biscuit, that's nice tank. The plants are very well-organised.
@joe: Any tips for your old low tech tank setup? 2 years of no maintenance is very long..
Is it necessary to have soil for planted tank? I use normal gravel plus ADA Power Sand and my plants grow super slow and some already turn brownish green.
I think it's very nice, i like those rocks.
start strong ... grow lots of plants ... i gave it co2 over an inverted cup initially to boost the plant growth ... but few months once the plants had a foothold, i took off the co2 ... by that time, i had lots of shrimps in it, probably >200 to 300 shrimps in it ... i never ever changed water for 2 years ... only top up water as i turn on fan over weekend (it was an office tank)
... always look at the bright side of life![]()
