I dose fertilisers too. Excel, flourish, flourish trace, iron and potassium. All from seachem and the dosage is according to the bottle.

Zep ~ How often do you dose Excel and also how often do you change your tank water?
Admiring my Fishes calm the Beast within me
I dose excel daily, 1.25ml for the 50cm tank of about 50l. Water change is also weekly, each time is about 20-30%.
Sorry to hijack the post but I have never dosed fertilizer in my 5 years of fishkeeping and have been very curious how this fertilizer game works. Could someone please enlighten me?
Thanks!

Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~
I used to keep a small 1 ft low tech tank with gravel substrate and some simple plants. The plants slowly started to deteriorate and was barely surviving with a couple of leaves. I went to get excel and flourish after reading up a bit. After a few weeks of dosing the plants picked up and looked much better.
After that I just used ferts for all my tanks. High tech or low tech.
Hi All,
I would like to share my simple low-tech nano tank for my Betta, Beethoven.
Tank size is about 20cmx18cmx25cm.
Filter: HOB Dophin H100
Lighting: Aquazonic Double Bright G2, 6.72W.
CO2: No
Cooling Fan: No
Lighting Hours: 7 hours/day
Flora:
- Java Ferns
- Various of Anubias: nana, nana petite, cofefolia, golden etc.
- Floating plants: duckweeds.
The tank is very simple and really does not need to take any serious effort to take care except weekly water change (20-30%). I just put one Otocinclus affinis in to clean the algae and that is it. Oh, I do put some Seachem Excel and Seachem Flourish after each water change.
Overall, I kind of like the low-tech since its maintenance part is really hassle free.

Here's my 1 week old setup.
Still cycling with no fauna. Should change background to black?
More plants for the back too?
Thanks for viewing

This is my Betta tank and temporary housing for my petite nana. Few months ago I bought this tank in my ignorance, mainly because i wanted the eheim ecco pro. After giving away the fishes and cleaning up, then i realized the setup, driftwood, plants, light fixture, is perfect for my betta =) Planning to add in sand substrate and some repens after i decomm my shrimp tank. I think the previous owner is very creative.
