Halogen is one third to one fourth as efficient as FL or MH.... so you need to get three to four times the amount of wattage. This means a LARGER electric bill 55 watt PL = 220 watt Halgon.... One of the world's most inefficient lights. Cheap to start, expensive(very) over the long run.

Halgon is hot..... heat wastage/dissipation is horrible .... Stand under a 70 W Halgon light, you will feel warm already, don't even talk about those 300 to 4x 300 watts ....., cook me well baby

It's one of those yellowish lights. color temp around 3000 kelvin.... It's a spot light yeah, but go for metal halide if need such an effect.

It's usually used and meant for "incubation" due to heat. Hatch egg and such.

if you are into planted tanks, use lights which have a colour temperature of about 6000k. the light tube is normally marked as 'daylight' and give out white light. give you a natural looking plants.
