Currently my 2x1x1.5 is filled to to the 1' mark.

Just wondering, if i filled it up to close to the max like what people do before they take photos of their tank, would it be detrimental to my tank's lifespan? would it collapse under its own weight if im using full tank for too long? Also, would that mean i have to use more light since tech speaking there is an increae in the capacity of water

I don't really see any problem.

Firstly, it is usually advisable to use a good quality tank for a start.

For the lighting, usually people obey the 2-3 watts per gal rule. And the gal is calculate by the whole bare tank so should not have any problem.
