    i recently went to my friends house and i noticed that 4 co2 he has like a green color bottle which he uses a tube and connects it to the water i was wandering if that works well?

    it works for planted tanks with no control on the output and not consistent.

    not recommended for starters. more for hobbyist who wanted to try something new.

    did you friend tell you that it is a lot of hard work to replace the contents?

    hi newbie,
    What do you mean by that? is it that he using DIY method with tubing into the water, no diffuser is it?

    That is basically DIY CO2, not recommended without a difusser as most of it will not dissolve.

    Please do a search for DIY CO2 to read up more.
