No, they feed on fish.
I put a pair of my Clown Killie in my tank of cherry shrimps. Couple of days later, found one of my Killies bruised. Thought it must have been the result of fighting and ignored it. Following day, fish is missing. Vanished! I thought it must have jumped out and was swept away, so I put another in. Same strange disappearance.
One night, I stayed up to observe after lights out. When the fish is sleeping, the cherry shrimp will pounce on it. After a few times, the injured fish will be weak, and while still alive (half dead) the whole bunch will tear the living fish to bits and devour it. By daybreak, I cannot find even the skeleton of the fish.

By nature, all shrimps are scavengers. They will pounce on anything that they can get their claws on.
I disagree with the few members there. Cherry Shrimps and Yamato are by nature algaes eaters. The only scavengers shrimps are the glass shrimps and those shrimps with the 'claws'. If u observe closely, cherry n yamato have 'fan' like pincers which they use to pluck algae, where as the scavengers use the 'claws' to protect themselves and in some cases...poke the fishes and injured them.
However, if there are dead fishes around, the shrimps(regardless which type) will then feed themselves with the dead fish.(just like snails...u seen them sticking on the dead fishes before?- snail are not scavengers by nature). If u have tried before or have friendly cherry n yamato shrimps, when u put yr hand in to do some garderning, the shrimps will come over n pluck yr hand - I call it cleaning....
I agree with JT. Cherry shrimps don't "hunt" down fish haha.
All shrimps eat algae. But the best algae-eating shrimp is the Yamato imho. The rest of the shrimp spieces, although algae-eaters, are more suitable for show rather than a algae crew.
