platy vs molly

how to tell the difference between platy and molly???? nowadays molly and platy mix here and there until i cant really tell the difference. do anybody know how tell the difference????

I'm no expert, but judging from the pictures, platies have bigger bellies than mollies. That seems to be the main difference.

but i find some mollys really look like platys that confuse me nowadays.....
mollys also becoming smaller in size..
i do realize that the mouth of mollys actually look bigger than platy if my observation is rite, but again not sure though. any other ways maybe like what other things to look for to tell their differences??

search for more pictures, and look around in LFS. that's the best way to learn how to distinguish fish species.

mollies basically have more protuberant lips than platies, and larger (fancier) dorsal and caudal fins. Platies are much more "perkier" in appearance. Both female platies and mollies will get rotund when pregnant.
