The small chiller in operation.
Use it over a month now and finding this 200watts chiller serves well for my small tank.
I stripped it, only to find that those parts are available as DIYs. See pic
It it come with a 1.5m wire attached temperature sensor to the controller so it takes temp from water from my tank. I have tried the temp varied from 24 to 29 degree C over time and it performs accordingly.
The chilling plate / core are powered by 12volts power supply, I may explore with multiple chilling core units with bigger 12v PS for bigger or multi tanks. (I would assume the components that are susceptible to failure would be the PS or chiller plate, while heat sinks, controller and fans are not easily spoiled.)
Any electrical expert aquarist can comment/advise?

Hi, any idea the inlet can fix to eheim filter?
It's 8mm inlet and outlet, so use a converter to connect 8mm to 12 mm host. It will slow down the flow as this is for small tank
Did u try how low can it go rather than 24 degree C?
This is a TEC based chiller. Went to aquarist chamber and they had a unit there.
Small setup is fine to. Use this

Currently set and running at 24 deg C for my Mac in 30litter tank which is bigger than this chiller is built for.
Brought it in HK where they use it in Summer for aquariums.
there are also 150watt versions about the size of a tissue box for 1 ft nano planted tank. It sells at hkd800 retail.
Used it and really love the size and low noise. The only issue really is the maximum tank size it can chill which is around 35L in our weather.

Is such units available in the local fish shop?
Had a set running for 2 weeks on my 1 feeter through eheim aqua compact. Operations well and quiet, but lowest I can go for average 30 degrees ambience room temperature is 26.

Does it work at its rated 200W? and how long does it take to chill the water say from 30 deg to 26 deg?
Hi, mine is the 150W version. I didn't do a measure of it, but it takes approximately 1 hour odd to chill water down by 4 degrees in my room.

Ah I see. It cools by 4 deg at once from 30 to 26?

Yeah, but it occurs over that 1 hour odd. Not that my tank is a low profile 1 feeter, so water fluke only around 10+ litres. Extremely nano aetup

Just for sharing only....
I couldn't find this electric chiller in LFS, so I called the HK seller and spoke to tech support guy....
he said there are a few models available, the 200w model theoretically spec'd it for 50 liter tank ie approx 18" x 12" x12" tank volume.
i like the compactness which can be placed side by side with the small tank and the wire sensing probe that dip into the tank water. Also, the use of 2 to 3 independent smaller electric chillers for the price of one big CT chiller make sense.
reckon if I stretch to a bigger tank size than the 18" x 12" mft spec, say 24" x 10" with lower water height of 9", I might get by with 24 or 25 deg C (The downside risk is failure of the 12v 20amp power supply unit which can be replaced).
It would cost more electricity (or save more) for every degree lower( or higher) in temp setting.
mind sharing where you got this chiller?
you can order it from the link below. I ordered mine sometime last year and they pack it well and delivery was fast too.
