Yes...no particular colour...I use to get those 1 packet $2 and drop a few in each of my tank. Not only will it help clear the bio-flim at the surface, it helps to 'cleans' your plants as well... able to eat limit algae as well....

get one will do otherwise breed like crazy if u happen to have a pair or more. my single male sailfin molly in evry tank do the job nicely. all 4ft tank yet no problem![]()
I've only 1 molly in my 2.5ft and she does the job nicely!

Almost all the live-bearers like Swordtails, Guppies and Mollies are surface skimmers too.

If you are lucky, your molly might have a taste for only BBA and Surface bio-film.I've had one like that. She was more effective than yamato and SAE when it comes to cleaning up BBA. She even crawls under the E. tennelus lawn to do the BBA on the gravel. Best of all, she never likes fish food, and only rarely would take some frozen daphnia

All her offspring are lazy and preferred fresh or live food to algae. So all these lazy ones become livebait for fishing![]()

I can't really see the modified tail of the mollies.. very hard to see.. the anal tails seems to be hiding most of the time.. How to differenciate?
Think i going to get 1 balloon molly today. I have protein build up on water surface.
They work wonders. I bought two and the protein layer is so much lesser then the day before. Quite cute also, always swimming at the surface sniffing.. hehe..
In the past I used to dislike mollies because I thought that they like to pick at the plant and destroy them. Now then I realise they are actually clearing the algae on the plant. However, some of the soft stem plant may be more or less damage.
I recommend pencil fish (rocket fish). They looks good and can't harm your plants as their mouth is very small, good to suck the film on top.
I got 3 for my 6' tank. Still has film ontop ,but lesser now.
hi. just something to ask. if i keeping aro in my planted. wouldn't molly be useless?? i think my aro is the type what ever it sees that can fit into its mouth it will just eat.
if there's aro in ur tank then no choice get surface skimmer..
for my tank i notice often my ottos would be eating the surface protein. their body will be completely horizontal wit the back facing the gravel on the surface.. looks cool though..
