Hi guys, below is a pic of my humble 3ft tank.

I'm thinking of replacing the slate at the back with a red tiger lotus for some contrast, would that be a good idea?

Nice layout, plants looks healthy too. IMO, leave the slate, it gives it a nice breather/break instead of just plants & plants. Position the red tiger slightly to the left-side of the slate just in front of the indica short limophila aromatica.

Is that APP in the foreground? How does yours grow so densely?
Mine just sits there doing nothing!

BEAUTIFUL! This forum hasn't seen a lot of nice tanks for a long time now.

I am dissapointed that you replaced the slate with a lotus. I think the lotus will be out of place. Just my opinion, but I think it would have been better to replace the slate with a larger rock and get your plants to colour up more.

The layout of the tank in the first lot pictures had excellent balance.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

Yep, thats APP and they grow really fast under the right conditions.

I started out with only a few strands of it.

    Thanks for the comments Vinz.

That piece of slate is currently in my one month old 2ft tank, trying out the zen aquascape.

Been looking for another piece of slate to replace that but its really hard to find to nice matching piece, therefore I planted the lotus. Will remove it once I find a suitable piece of slate.

Currently have 2*36W Elbiru 10,000K and 2*36W Osram 6000K. Going to DIY another 2*36W 6000K after my exams.

Hmm, the thick lushy APP reminds me of what I had previously. If gone untrimmed, APP will form a bush.....and from afar, I once thought I had MM in my tank. See the resemblance below?

Oh dear....I don't think I'd be able to tell cos it was my brother (I would say he's a camera buff) who took it for me. What I saw was he would use a camera and a detached/separated flashpoint to take the shots for me.

    Ha..., hope this makes sense...
