In my opinion, the F1 poso snail is able to reproduce in captivity, just that due to their slow growth rate, they take a long time to reach sexual maturity, hence few have the patience to wait for F1 to breed.

Dearl all,
I am from Turkey and I really like those Poso snail varierties (aka Tylomelaniasnails). During my search over internet, I noticed that most of the breeders have babies from F0 poso snails. But I did not see anybody who has grown up those F1 babies and have babies from F1.
May I ask your opinion and experience about it please?
PS: Below shots are from my tank (I have got 5 Golden Spotted Rabbit + 12 baby yellow poso snails)

Thank you for your answer, I hope what you think is correct. May I kindly ask if you know water tds is important for poso snails? I have been keeping them with my guppies and guppies are strong against high water tds but I am not sure about Poso snails. I mean I have got approximately 300 ppm in my tank and they look fine for 1 month but not sure if they are happy.

300ppm is a bit high as compared to the water in their natural environment, but as these snails are highly adaptable, I don't think it will pose a problem.

Thank you. I have been keeping them with my guppies, do you think Poso Rabbits should be kept seperately in a tank with only with their species?
I think it is fine to keep it with the guppies, unless you see the guppies nipping the snails.

I actually have baby snails from F1 in water that is approximately 400 TDS. So long as your tank is mature I believe you'll do fine![]()

Draka, thank you for confirmation. So, you are sure that you have grown your F1 babies and they gave you babies as well, that's awesome. Also thank you for TDS confirmation which means these beautiful creatures are resistant high TDS.

Yep I am sure. Cheers! These guys can breed like rabbits though once you keep a colony so beware of that...

I wish it can happen to me, I really like Poso Snails. Even I am thinking of setting up a seperate tank to feed only Poso. Because with guppies, they barely can reach the food.

A note:
By the way, I have read Amazonas Magazine about these beautiful snails and it's saying that not all Posos live in warm water.
ie some species like "thunderbolt tylomelania" (a picture below) live in colder water around 22/23 C.

Today I want to share a bad story with you guys related with my Poso Snails and Apple Snails and Ramshorn snails.
I have a fully cycled 75 liters guppy thank with some otocinclus affinis and I have been reproducing them without any problem for over 3 months. But regardless my efforts I had lost all my snails in this tank in the long period after I put them in. Poso snails, apple snails, ramshorn snails.... All of them died after 2 or 3 weeks and I was like going crazy as I could not guess what was the problem to lose all snails but no issue with my fishes.
Then I found out the issue (hopefully), it is RUST. I was using some "rustless mesh" but obviously they got rush and I believe snails cannot tolerate the rust after a while. I had taken out all my metals in my tank never will put again. I recommend all you guys that never put metal related thinks into your tank like me.
Here is the rusty killer thing in my tank that I have thrown away:

Regarding Tylomelania snails, I have lots of success with the yellow kind. They are breeding regularly. They were offspring from a first batch of 4 snails that I bought. The F1 generation is now reproducing too.
My orange snails were also reproducing but I lost many of them due to under feeding them. I did not realise they needed so much food.
I have a dark individual which may be a cross between the orange and yellow snails.
Both types like colder water to reproduce.

Anyone with orange tylomelenia snails to give away or swap with yellow snails? Trying to improve my gene pool in the tanks. I have some yellow ones to give away too.

I also took the advice to remove the rusty frame I used to plant my Java moss. Don't want to lose my whole population of snails.

Hi Jeremy,
Thank you for sharing those details, really appreciate it and I am really sorry for your losses. May I kindly ask which frequency were you feeding your orange poso snails and you think that's the reason of their dyings?
I have a tank now in which there are 12 orange + 10 yellow + 3 chicolate + 5 golden spotted rabbits and I have been feeding them every 2 days with mainly vegetables like lettuce, cucumebr and carrot. I had lost some oranges and chicolates as well but I don't think it's because lack of food because I was also onvacation 7 days and they were ok with 2 lettuce leaves for the whole time.

You will be surprised how much they eat. I feed them carrort shaving scraps that my maid saves for me. I make sure that there is always some left on the floor. Then I have two days a week when I don't feed...to let the waste clear.

Observe how fast the food disappears and you will know how much to feed them. I lost the larger snails first as their food requirement was higher. I never lost any after I fed them as much as they could eat.

Whatsapp me some pics of your snails. The fad has somehow died down and I find it hard to find many shoos selling good quality snails. Many of them in poor condition as they are not well fed for months. And as I discovered, they do eat a lot.

I have been keeping my poso snails over 2 months and I know they really eat a lot but also since they mostly sleep all the day I don't think they need so much food.
Here some pics from my snails:
