Sad to hear that.
Did you use tap water or tank water to wash the filter?

Help! my snails keep dying. I had 3 and many shrimps for like 3 months and suddenly they all just die in one single day. i think it was due to me washing my filter too clean i think. because, i can't think of any other reason. But now, my cherry shrimps is dying 1 by 1 and my snail just die the day after. Any idea why?![]()

tap. But after that i changed the water and i allowed 1.5 weeks before adding my new batch of cherry shrimps and snail. but they still die. sigh... why?

Give your tank more time. How long has it been setup?
Mine was setup for half a year, and initially when I put my shrimps in there, they just as easily died off like yours. I didn't try anymore shrimps until a few weeks later.
This time, I slowly acclimatised the shrimps, floating the bag for about half an hour before I realeased them. They didn't die.
I noticed that after I do major changes to the tank, like rescaping, large water changes etc kills off shrimps.
Hopefully your next try will be successful![]()

1 year already. but i just added my shrimps 5-6 months before. they were very healthy and even spawning new fries but they always get eaten before they can grow in to anything else. but then after i've changed my filter medium, ALL just died in 1 day. i woke up just to see all the dead bodies.![]()
but now i added the new batch of shrimps 1.5 weeks after their death and they still die. but not all. just 1 by 1.......![]()
(even my snails die, after just 1 night...)

Must be the ghost shrimp and snail that haunt your tank!![]()
As u say this happens after u change your filter media. Why not check your media? From what u describe may be your filter does not contain enough bateria since u had change your media

Yea true. You did a complete change of fliter media? Even a partial change will affect shrimps greatly, since shrimps can be super sensitive to nitrate/nitrate levels in the water.
Perhaps you need to wait for another few months for your fliter to mature sufficiently.
Must learn to respect the "Nitrogen Cycle" concept!

i changed half of it. but isn't 1.5 weeks enough? mine is just a small OHF.
For a new tank, you need a month. Since your is a mature tank, 1.5 week may be enough but the problem is this:
If a few weak ones die, it may upset everthing in the Nitrogen Cycle. In another word, a whole new ball game. The smaller the tank the more critical it is.

oh.. means the weak one dies and pollute my tank? mine is a 1ft tank.![]()

1 feet? Wow... hmm, I don't know, but considering 1 feet, water stabilisation will be a tricky problem. Wait for a month. It should be safe by then.
PS: I wonder why you are worrying about your snails dying, I wouldn't care!snails suck.
