What worked very well for me is a daily feed of 2%-5% total shrimp mass in the tank. So in your case you can feed an amount that equals to a quarter - a half of one adult shrimp, which is very little.
How much to feed and how often for 9 fire red, 9 rcs shrimplets, 2 CRS, 2 panda loach?? its a 2 week old tank, using old media, rca soil. cycled but no natural algae(plants all from 5mth old tank).
Food type i have:
CRS heaven breeder select
lowkey sprial
ocean nutrition algae wafe
Thank you in advance

I suggest once every 3 days? They probably can find food ard the tank as well. The food we feed are mostly just supplements

That sounds good. Will feed them every other day half a breeder select. Thank you bosses
I only feed 3 times per week. Sometimes special treats like cucumber or spinach. Quantity wise trial and error till you don't see them leaving the food unattended
Recent studies shows that putting recent studies in your statement have a higher percentage of trust people put into your recent studies. What?
dame it. i over feed.... now got planaria![]()
The key to not overfeeding is to remove excess food after a couple of hours. Some ppl feed alot initially to ensure that every shrimp get a piece instead of only the bigger shrimps pushing out the smaller ones and then removing the leftovers after 2-3 hours to ensure that the food won't go bad and pollute the water.
Just make sure you don't leave any uneaten food inside.
The breeder select I use is like micro pallet. And I try do put in only 7 to 9 pallet.( a size of a dot when you use pencil on paper) after I put in there is no way of taking out.maybe change food I guess. That you all for the advice. O may be everyother day I feed boil veg only can? Big and easy to remove?
I too use the breeder select with micro pellets, you put them on the food tray in the tank. Don't sprinkle it all over. Grab a pinch and put your hand into the water, place it gentle onto the feeding tray

Feed them boiled zucchini today. They never really eat. ...
The fishes and shrimps will usually only eat the zuchinni after it starts to become soft and mushy after 24 hours in the tank, so don't remove it yet. You can leave it in the tank for up to 48 hours (then remove any uneaten leftovers and remnants).
If this is the first time you are feeding them boiled vegetables, they may not realize that its food at first, so give them time to discover it.
Woth leaving it so long in the water dirty it? Any other vegetable a better choice.
As long as you remove any remnants after 48 hours, it wouldn't pollute the water. Blanched zucchini degrades very slowly so its a good way to provide all day grazing opportunities for the shrimps (compared to pellets or wafers which break apart and rot very quickly).
Just for reference, in my tank with around 80+ shrimps and 7 zebra otos, i feed one 5cm diameter/3-4mm thickness slice of blanched zucchini every 2 days... usually on the first day only a few shrimps and maybe an oto occasionally visit it to graze on briefly, but on the 2nd day the whole slice will be covered in shrimps and otos and they'll totally demolish it within a few hours until nothing remains.
If you find that after 48 hours the slice of zucchini is still not completely eaten, then reduce the size of the slice (maybe half or 1/4 a slice) during the next feeding. Just adjust the feed portion accordingly to match the consumption rate of the shrimps and fishes.
Hmmm ok will try a small slice tonight and leave it till tomorrow. See what thry do. Thank you![]()
remember to blanch the zucchini or cucumber before throwing into the tank, else it will float around
