I was wondering how good does this substrate mix sound?

Do I need a clay-based substrate to over this up or will normal gravel be enough? I searched other posts and read that you need to mix a substrate with a good CEC with JBL to make it a long-term substrate, but as I understand JBL itself is clay-based, and acts as a binding site for nutrients - thus it has a good CEC?

    hi Raul-7,

go for as much base fert as you can afford or your tank can resonably hold. Preferably total substrates thickness 15cm behind and 8 cm in front.

3 cm of gravel on top of base fert works for me..

I understand what you're saying but how good would this substrate be if I were to use it?
