do try to give them some open space not only to swim and dig but also to feed them more easily. u can target drop the food onto the open space so they wont have to go search among ur plants.
ur gravel are not those super fine ones like river sand since ur tank is that of planted, then its more or less ok cos they can dig but not that 'violently'. it also depends on how many corydoras u have too, they love to school but keeping a gp of them may gradually uproot ur plants !!
