The Eheim 2217 can use used in that tank volume, more filtration and flow is better than less (especially when you start to add other inline equipment), just get a set of double taps to adjust the flow rate accordingly.
For a 45cm depth tank, maybe consider LED lightsets that use higher powered 3W individual LEDs instead, you'll get better depth penetration and hence more light available to plants growing at the lower sections of the tank.
With a 45cm width, you may also need to get lightsets with wider coverage or perhaps suspend the lights higher to spread out the light coverage across the entire tank base.
Catch the shrimps in batches... what i usually do is put an assortment of food into a net and just place it in the tank, once the net is full of shrimps, i'll just scoop them out. Repeat as many times as required. It saves time chasing them and digging into all the plants in a tank.![]()
