It was time to say goodbye to the snowscape tank on my office table.

i wanted a tank where i can either keep a pair of apisto or just shrimps.
Dabbled with the thought of a "biotope" kind of look, but decided against it.
Because as an aspiring aquascaper i've always wanted to try out new plants
and methods whenever i can, to hasten my learning process.
So it's really an experimental effort born out of minimal planning.

    This is the end result.
It's nothing to shout about to be honest.

sorry for the lousy photo, lots of reflection, my computer monitor is just beside the tank.
    black background don't help either.

I didnt really plan to create a particular feel or look.
Just made do with whatever materials i have left unused or surplus in my bigger tank,
stuff like soil, lava rocks, wood, plants etc.

i did bought new plants, particularly Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo'. Would really want to see
the effect of this plant, If it's what im looking for, i may use it for iwagumi scape in the future.

The "snow" scape was really good! Saw it before and thought it was very well done. Perhaps you can wait until Xmas again for the scape to come about again

Love this scape too though... The presence of aquatic plants will always be soothing especially at work.

I prefer the black background, more mystic feel to your beautiful tank!

I can't help it but observe that your co2 is rather wasted going straight up.... Should re-position it lower and better flow area

    ok, noted on co2
    thanks for the advice!

by the way, does it help if i have a small cup floating above
covering the part where the bubbles hit the surface?

Small cup? For 30cm, the less equipment inside the better. Doesn't help anyway I feel. I have a 30cm running also, I put my co2 against the outflow and I can see the bubbles being pushed around the tank. Another way is to put it directly under your inflow but I see that you have a sponge so cannot.

By the way our tank looks great!!

    an update:

    cycling has completed.
    added in fauna

    a pair of apistogramma trifasciata
and 3 very very small SAEs

abit of hair algae appeared, accompanied by the usual dose of diatoms
that comes with cycling. and some brown cotton like mould.

the m. monte carlo were almost all dead (turned brown and transclucent)
during the nitrite spike stage of cycling. but are recovering and growing green again.

    -the mosses are doing well,
    -the hydrocotyle are ok too.
-the bucep leaves have all melted , presumably dead
-the stem plants are turning slightly brown and there are some leftover cottony brown mould
which i have to remove manually everyday.

    tank water parameters:
    ph: 6.4
    gh: 2
    kh: 2
temp: 23 degrees during office hours. 26 if no on aircon.
    light: 2 x 6W T5HO 12000K , 8hrs photo period.
    co2: 2bps

i dose every other day the following:
Seachem Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, ADA Step1
once a week 5 drops of phyton git
    WC every friday and tuesday
