Just cycled my tank for two weeks and will be introducing CRS soon. In preparation for the regular water top-ups, i would like to seek advice from the laojiao here on the the brand of distilled water that you guys use?

I agree with berny, even though some soil guarantee you a few days and it is safe to put shrimps in, please do confirm that your tank is fully cycled before even putting anything in and don't risk the chance of having future problems regarding a non cycled tank as crs are not cheap at all even for the lowest grade.
And to solve your answer for the people i know, they either are using Life distilled water which contains a little of sodium which i guess is harmless, as i have used without any problems so far or NTUC's house brand of distilled water, i have tried both and it feels kind of same to me.

Thanks for the advice. Added two Grade A CRS and a snail and they are doing very well for the last three days. Will be introducing better grade CRS in about two weeks time. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Jimbo. . Is your tank cycled? Been cycling mine for 3 weeks but low PH does not induce the nitrogen cycle. Thinking of throwing shrimps in as well to test.

Using shrimps soil and it supposed to be cycled in 2 weeks. But I will be conservative and throw in my main crs after 4weeks

I'm using shrimp soil too. Ph at 5.3 now. Been 3 weeks and I still have ammonia/ammonium lingering. Lol

I didn't bother to check the conditions. Just followed the idiot guide from the LFS religiously. So far the tank conditions look good from the behavior of the shrimps. In fact, I noticed very small white thingies that resemble the shape of shrimp moving in the background. Hopefully they are small fires and not pest![]()

Nice. I'll throw shrimps in soon

Good luck. Confirm your project also from the LFS in tampines

I'm not sure how crs haven can confirm that the tank will cycle in 2 weeks but I followed their guide long ago and it worked

I got some stuff from them. But soil and additives from green chapter.

Think cuz these shrimp soil doesn't dose much ammonia. The low ph always neutralise ammonia I think. From what I read.

Might be but the uncle boasts that his bacteria product neutralises ammonium and ammonia so I'm not too sure

Those small white worm like things could be planaria do take note.
I am balding but i am still young!

I'm compared my worms to photos. Looks and swim like nematode.

Would the crs eat the nematode?

Used Life distilled water. As for the worms, maybe you can throw 1 or 2 boraras in? Used to have Cyclops and planaria problems but after throwing in 2 boraras all the nasty pests are gone.

Heard the worms are harmless and maybe even beneficial to cycling as they act like earthworms. And common during later stage of cycling. Guess just live it and deal with it only of they become an infestation.

Good to know is harmless, but just wondering how they get into the tank..
