    Hi AQ,

Did water test with API master kit today..Results as follows (but dunno if I matched the colors correctly..lol)
    PH 6.6
    Nitrate 10ppm
    Nitrite 5 ppm
    Ammonia 0.25ppm

The gh n kh baffles me cuz I dunno how to use the conversion table..5 drops for GH (Can tell because obvious color change)..but kh yellow it says bright yellow. .dunno what is considered bright..but it turned slight yellow on the first drop..

I have 2 cardinals, 10 green neon and 8 fire red shrimps..planted (2 weeks emerged and 3 weeks submerged) is hairgrass, dwarf hairgrass and monte carpet in a 2 ft gex glassterior slim tank..

    Is the parameters alright?

Those ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings indicate that your tank is still cycling.

Since your tank is still cycling and you already introduced livestock in to it, do more frequent water changes to reduce the toxic parameters and help reduce the damaging effects to the livestock, even though they may not show any signs of harm at the moment, their long term health may be affected if exposed to too much ammonia and nitrites.

The GH at 5 drops indicates 50-100ppm based on the API conversion chart, its an okay level to maintain for most fishes and shrimps. Most people compare their results based on number of drops (easier to reference).

The kH at 1 drop is normal if you are using active soil substrates like ADA Amazonia Aquasoil, part of the soil's characteristics is to lower kH (usually until 0-1). No need to worry about the water's kH/pH buffering ability as the soil itself will control the pH for you.
