    Hi,

I was told it's Rotala sp "Vietnam", however, when I google it the pictures that appear don't look similar. Or is this one of those type that will change form after keeping for awhile?

They look like rotala rotundifolia to me. Also they do not look like emersed grown plants, so when you grow them in your tank, they will be the same.

I see, thanks! Do I need to constantly trim and replant to have it bushy, or just trimming will do the job?

Agree with aquanick... those plants do look like rotala roundifolia.

For such stem plants, trimming will encourage each cut stem to grow 2 or more branched stems, so repeated trimmings as the plants grow it'll help to eventually develop a dense bushy look.

If you need to fill more areas of your tank with these plants, then just replant the cut tops to increase the plant density.

After a while the bottom older sections will start to deteriorate so you'll then have to uproot them, cut the healthy top section, toss away the bottom section, then replant the healthy tops.
