    Dear friends,

I have just set up a new nano CO2 tank and cycling it for about a week already. Setup as follows:

    Bottom substrate: Gex plant soil
    Substrate: ADA Amazonia powder
    Plants: 'Monte Carlo' and Brasiliensis
    CO2 input: 1bubble every 2-3seconds.
    Lighting 8hrs a day

Daily routine: 50% water change everyday, with water conditioner.
After 2 days, water started to turn cloudy and 2 days ago, discovered some white cotton candy-like stuff on the substrate and rocks. They appear white and soft.

Is this a cause for concern? Thanks for all advice bros.

Its normal...water cloudy means bacteria bloom...

White stuff should be fungus...eh considered harmless but better post a picture to confirm identity..haha

Do you have test kits to check water parameters?

hi there, try not to have an 8 hours photoperiod at the start. maybe try 6 hours first... then after awhile then increase to 7 hours and when you have a full carpet then increase to 8 hours. hope this helps...

Never seen the white stuff on the substrate before, usually on driftwoods, Otto will eat it. I believe you can increase your co2 to 1bps or 2bps since you do not have life stock in (assuming you are dosing fertilizer).

Shrimps are more destructive in a newly planted tank, they tend to uproot those plants that are not properly done and mortality rate is higher if the water is not stable.
