can i put the baby frys in still water? or do i need to air bubbled the air?
i did a further read up on goldfish fry, and at http://www.petfish.net/gold.htm, it mentioned that:
the first 3-4 days the fry will swim very little and feed off of the yolk-sack on their stomachs. When you see a few babies swimming freely and looking for food, add the baby brine shrimp or infusoria to the tank.
I can't do baby brine shrimp, so I did a search on infusoria, and I found out at http://www.petfish.net/infu.htm, that:
Infusoria can be cultured and fed to the very tiniest of fry.
Recipe For Green Water
Add old (unmedicated) aquarium water, along with any snail droppings, dead plant matter or detritus to a glass quart jar or similar container. Allow this container to sit in a windowsill for a few days catching some sunshine, or place it near another light source. In a few days it should be cloudy and/or green tinted. It is then ready to harvest and with very little smell. Although if you are curious enough to force the issue by sticking your nose where it really doesn't belong you will be duly rewarded.
You can either harvest an ounce or two from the top, with a turkey baster taking care to not get any of the mulm or solid material, and then squirt this directly into the fry tank - or - you can float a small wad of filter floss in the jar for a few hours and then swish it around in the fry tank.
This culture should easily last long enough for all fry to reach the next stage of fry food. Another alternative to is to just put some Java Moss in the fry tank and let them feast on the abundant microscopic organisms that live in it's fronds.
So, what I did was to scrap the walls of my goldfish tank with the wool filter to collect the algaue, and wash it in the 2 feet breeding tank, it's really dirty (brown and green stuffs on the wall). And put some of my ornaments in my goldfish tank, which is coated with 'dirt' and place it in the breeder tank.
Tomorrow, I'm going to find some moss and put it in the tank as well. Maybe I'm going to be a cheapo and get it from some ponds? Or any1 could donated one or 2 strings of moss?

Hi s050399b,
He he, it is always entertaining to read your post.
In my personal opinion, it will be easier to hatch baby brine shrimp than raising infusoria. Goldfish fry should be large enough to eat BBS after absorting their own yolk sac. Powdered food is a good choice also if you find live food troublesome. Try "Hikari's First bite" .
Still water will be good for fry. Ensure that you don't overcrowd the fry in one container and maintain good water quality:do partial water change daily and don't overfeed. Put one or two snails in the container to eat any leftover food. When fry is 1 to 1.5cm, install a sponge filter but keep the air flow low.
Finally, I don't think goldfish will need such cold temperature to breed. Many of my friends' goldfish breed like nobody business in room temperature.

Aiyoh Ong Poh San, don't suan me leh, i'm trying to up my level liao wor~
thanks for the advise on snails, very useful, migrating my snails from the 3 feet tank, to the 2 feet fry tank.
opps yeah, btw, the frys are already in the 2 feet tank, this morning i've put 2 snails in there, just now, the tank looked so clean!! wow!! there's a mop there too, the mop save the babies, because the eggs that is not in the mop are all being eaten by their parents,
i can count about 10 fishes in the water, that's a lot less than i expected........sigh..........the web site, said there should be about 50 to 2000 eggs..........i guess if i were to keep the tamperature very low (22 degrees), maybe they will have more eggs?~
wow! came back from my 1 week vacation, and i see 2 baby frys left, 10 die?
now one baby fry is lying on the bed of the tank on its side, if i disturb it, it will move away very fast, but else it's lying on its side......
sigh.............changed water, and drop in one sinker tablet for them to munch,
