Need help, I'm upgrading.

Hi all, I'm upgrading to a 4x2x2ft tank next month and need suggestion on estimate price and where to get these stuffs below.

1. 4 x 36w light set. 2 sets.
2. 3L C02 cylinder + solenoid valve
3. ADA Aquasoil. 4 x 9ltrs pack.

I intend to use HC (lotsa them) as foreground plant. Also intend to DIY hood with built in cooling fans. Already have the layout in my head. Need to let it loose.
I'm using a DIAMOND 809 canister filter at the moment. Dunno if it's good enough for the new setup. Will change if it doesn't.

Anyway hope u can help me out on those item. Price/place. Thks.

PS: Will join the ADA2005 if tank mature b4 April.

4x36w isn't enough for your tank. I'm using 4x36w for my 3x1.5x2ft. HC require cold water and needs lots of light.

Yeah, that's why I need 2 sets so 8 x 36w. Plus already have 1 set 4 x 36w.

So total 12 x 36w. Should be enough.

432W of PL is a bit extreme dun you think? Why dun you ask Oliver Knott how much he uses? He's an AQ member here though I dun know how often he chks in here. He does lots of aquascapes using HC.

Yeah, might not be using all. I'll stick to my 1w per litre rule. Shld be almost equivalent to the 3w/gal rule used here. Anyway my tank volume is max 432L.

Don't worry guys about me doing wrong setup. Me need to know where to get those stuff more importantly. Need recommendations. Been into planted since '99. Last time bought equipments 3 years back. So lost touch on where to purchase since new LFSes came up.

That's the whole point opening this thread, tawauboy. I need to move around with public transport. Imagine going to sys & control then to nature aq, C328, gratiola, soon heng88, keong seong ..........Cost of travelling alone can get some equiptment for my setup.

Hope u guys don't get me wrong. Not being lazy here, just need u guys kind help. Anyway by hook or by crook, will get those items if no help rendered.

Again, if anyone can provide me rough estimation of prices of those items should be good enuff. At least when I recce around, I already have an idea of the pricing. Even though I have a "blank cheque" type of budget (now rough est $1200 and increasing), being a typical local, trying to get a bang for my buck.

Let's say I've done my homework before purchasing.

sys & control deals with bioplast products so expect to pay a bit more for quality co2 and lightings.
nature has taiwanese co2 system with optional german solenoids and offers pl lightings.
keong seong, i think, brings in ada products.

c328 has a lot of stuff and serangoon north area has a number of lfs that deals with planted tank stuff.

A point to note though. In using 8x36w pl light, the temp increase will be great. Either you use a few cooling fan ( those pc type fan, not the 4-in-1 fan type) or a chiller. If the tank is placed in the hall, you might save some electricity by switching off the hall main light.

Aiyoh, guys. Me using reef profile. Sharing pc lah. Anyway he into discus. He's intend to give some to me. Don't know can take care or not. Maybe stick to plants only.

BFG, I managed to grow a lawn of hairgrass with a 8x36w b4. So heat not a big problem. Anyway going to DIY hood with those 12V dc fans. Why dc fans?, chances of electrocuting myself will be less. He...he....heh.... See how that goes, if can get temp around 26-27c during photoperiod then no need to get chiller. Trying bolbitis heudoltii (Congo Fern). Otherwise will get one.
