Hi, I noticed that my fishes scratch themselves some times on the bottom of the tank or rocks. I tot they hv ick. But on close examination, they looks ok on their skin. Should I add salt or medication ? I don't hv a test kit, but I do a 25-30% water change weekly. Thanks.

Yes, u r right. They are some infection on them but could not see with our naked eye. However, from my experience, it is seldom harmful UNLESS your tank is of "stones" setup...they will injure themselves as a result of scratching on the rough surface. If not, it is quite ok...soon they will not do that. Once a while they do so at broad leaves plant. - like cleaning their mouth...
Normally, I add the all purpose blue solution to "cure" the itch on their body...

Thanks for the advice. I will keep a close watch on them. My only worry is that medication on the cories. I read that cories are sensitive to medication.

My fish used to behave like this as well.

And it end up having white spot.

Luckily, i use salt to cure them.

do you use chiller?? its the sudden drop in temperature that cause them to itch and soon it will become white spot. try to increase he temperature and they will be fine.(without medicine). water change, keep the routine.
